'Afterparty' has an overwhelming sense of vulnerability and fragility, a stylistic feature that ties Hoppe's discography. Compared to 'On My Way Down' and 'Click Boom Run', this track thematically emphasizes a feeling of longing and the realization of being with someone who loves you unconditionally. Produced by Harper James from the indie-pop duo Eighty Ninety and co-written by musician Maddie Regent, the emotional depth of the lyricism is conveyed in the warm tones of James' production.
Hoppe and Regent's collaborative writing is incredibly realistic and invites the listener to draw upon their own experiences of love, loss and devotion. As we stumble through the streets of New York, the instrumentation evokes autumnal/winter tones that complement Hoppe's baritone vocals. 'Afterparty' joins a growing collection of songs that not only display an artist who is ready to grow in popularity but one who is prepared to work hard in order to achieve their dreams. As a listener, being able to respect the artist and their work is the key to a career of longevity and I believe Hoppe's music will only continue to grow from strength to strength.
