Da-iCE is a Japanese dance-vocal group consisting of five members.
Taiki Kudo, Toru Iwaoka, Yudai Ohno, Sota Hanamura, and Hayate Wada formed in 2011 and are currently signed to Avex Trax.
Their single 'Chocolate Sympathy' features on their album 'Next Phase' which was released back in 2017.
The song begins with a hip-hop-inspired beat accompanied by trumpets which adds bounce and energy to the overall performance. The slight break at the beginning provides a nice bridge to the introduction of the first verse. The live performance requires Ohno to sing and perform simultaneously, and it is extraordinary to watch and displays his talent as a performer. Da-iCE has two main vocalists, the other being Sota Hanamura, whose high vocal range perfectly compliments Ohno's vocals. Hanamura also maintains crystal clear vocals despite having danced continuously during Ohno's vocal parts. The pre-chorus sees a gradual build-up to the main chorus, with thumping electronic drums and sharp snares kicking the song into action.
From watching the live performance you begin to understand the amount of dedication and hard work that goes into their live shows. I really enjoyed this performance and I would highly recommend checking out their other songs!
