'Faint of Heart' is the latest single from musician Millie Blooms (also known as Emily Fry formerly from the band Digital Criminals). Millie's latest single is a quirky track that incorporates layered vocals and hip-hop influences; a unique song that bursts with creativity and colourful production.
The mallet and layered harmonies at the beginning of the track grabs the listener and moves into a rapped verse that features tight vocals and bold lyricism. The minimalistic production is reminiscent of works by New Zealand musician Kimbra, with the 90s inspired hip-hop rhythm drawing inspiration from songs like '90s Music'. A highlight from the track are the gorgeous vocal harmonies that creates a call and response with the main vocal line, adding groove in the instrumental that hooks and engages the listener from start to finish. What I love about this track is how Millie's style of production and songwriting is unpredictable, keeping the listener in constant anticipation for the next verse. 'Faint of Heart' is a bold and unique track that blends different genres and textures, an exciting single that firmly places Millie Blooms as a versatile artist.
