Ayelle's new single ‘Fast Life’ is about slowing down, practising self-care and rejecting the norm. The song is accompanied by a music video directed by Jackson Tisi.
I first heard Ayelle's voice on the song 'Hurts the Most' which was a collaboration with London based singer/songwriter Rationale. I really enjoyed watching her acoustic quarantine sets during lockdown and was so excited to watch the video for 'Fast Life' which is featured on her mixtape NOMAD.
I'll be at home writing songs sippin' on my tea
Reading some book about life and philosophy
Taking my time with it all tryna figure out
How to slow down in a fast world?
‘Fast Life’ demonstrates Ayelle's vocal range and growing confidence as a singer. The song is instantly catchy, especially the recurring vocal riff that occurs in the main chorus. The new single differs from Ayelle’s previous work like ‘Mind and Body’ and 'Psychopaths', there is a newfound confidence in the lyrics that are blunt and honest. The chorus perfectly describes the anxieties of modern life and the idea of trying to live up to expectations. However, Ayelle rejects the norm and enjoys solace whilst being frozen in a party scene. This song stresses the importance of self-care and moments of isolation, which has become the norm these past few months.
