'Love At First Listen'

We have all heard of love at first sight, but what about love at first listen? For me, love at first listen relates to those songs that make an instant and memorable impact. So for this post, I wanted to share some songs that I would consider my love at first listen. I want to know your 'love at first listen' songs; send in your recommendations via my Instagram story or by leaving a comment down below!

'Horizon' by Aldous Harding

Taken from Harding's second studio album, 'Horizon' has a minimalist piano accompaniment that frames the vocals in an isolated setting. For me, the lyrics take centre stage and showcases Aldous Harding's talent for capturing her audience. This performance on Jools Holland really made this song my 'love at first listen'

'Girl Like You' by Toro y Moi

American singer-songwriter and graphic designer, Toro y Moi has such as unique sound and production style blending chillwave music with ambient instrumentation. 'Girl Like You' features on one of my favourite albums 'Boo Boo', it has a warm layering of synths accompanied by steady percussion. It captures Toro y Moi's charm and is one of the reasons why I fell in love with his music.

'Aquarius' by Lor

This is my most recent love at first listen and it has been on repeat for the last couple weeks. 'Aquarius' showcases the Polish band's imaginative composition, blending traditional folk music with modern pop melodies. If you're a fan of Aurora then I think you will love this band! Let me know your thoughts in the comments down below.

'Off My Mind' by Hazel English

Released in 2020, 'Off My Mind' was the second single taken from Hazel English's debut studio album. I absolutely love the album 'Wake Up!' and it was one of my favourite albums during lockdown so this song is nostalgic and reminds me of the long summer of 2020.
