'Pictures (Part One and Two)' by Taxi With Strangers

Lancaster indie-rock band Taxi With Strangers are back with two new tracks that marks a shift in their sound.

'Pictures Part One' is an acoustic track with piano, guitar and vocals accompanied by lyrics that explore the first signs of movement in a world that has been on pause for the past year. This track thematically links to 'Let Loose' but feels like the light at the end of the tunnel. The delicate chimes in the background lead to a soaring instrumental section that could be the soundtrack to an indie film production. I thought the vocals suited this style of acoustic instrumental, there is a rawness and delicacy that permeates the vocal line with the added harmonies creating depth and contrasting bass to the light composition.

The second track 'Pictures Part Two' similarly opens with piano chords with the main vocals placed at the forefront of the production. The dreamy strummed guitar chords incorporate a psychedelic sound that marks a shift in sound compared to Taxi With Strangers previous records. This song also displays a new vocal range and is something that Taxi With Strangers have developed and refined over the past few months. 'Pictures Part One and Two' are extremely experimental but the band have successfully displayed growth in their sound and I have to say these two singles are my favourite tracks from the band so far. With this continued evolution and strength in their development, it will be interesting to see how the band incorporate these new sounds into their future songs. Check out the singles in the links above or hear the singles on my Spotify reviews playlist (link in bio).
