'Rain at Night' by Oh So Quiet

Oh So Quiet are a band currently based in Guildford, England. The band formed in 2011 with its founding members Lucas and Malena Zavala. The duo originates from Argentina but later moved to the UK, gathering more members from across the world to join their band.

Their single Rain at Night was released back in 2015 and features on their self-titled EP.

"Remember when we were still friends
We could sing our hearts out, sing our hearts out
Of all the things you have given
You just kept on drinking, kept on drinking"

Rain at Night is a beautiful folk song that combines plucked guitar melodies with soft percussion and bass accompaniment. Throughout the song, you can hear the sound of rain and birds in the background, evoking an earthly tone to the overall instrumental. The main vocals soar above the swaying melodies, like a siren lamenting lost love and the memories of a past relationship. Lyrically, the song explores the end of a union between two individuals conveyed through the sorrowful tone of the chorus. However, despite the sentimental lyrics, the instrumental does not drag but remains light and full of warm-rich melodies.

The title Rain at Night perfectly encapsulates the overall feeling of the opening track to the EP and it is one of those songs that makes you stop and be reflective, providing a temporary escape. I would highly recommend checking out this band and listening to this song and the EP in full.
