'REVERSi' by Da-iCE (EP Review)

'REVERSi' is the new EP from Da-iCE, the Japanese dance-vocal group who were recently awarded at the prestigious 63rd Japan Record Awards. This conceptual EP consists of nine tracks, including lead singles 'Kartell' and 'Dose', alongside some previously unreleased tracks.

Those aware of Da-iCE's previous work will understand the versatility in their music, and 'REVERSi' only continues to push the boundaries of the group's innovative sound. Tracks like 'Dose' and 'NIGHT OWL' introduces a blend of pop, disco, RnB and funk instrumental, creating a fusion of warm synthetic sounds that nicely compliments the duo vocal line.

This EP carries the theme of 'SiX' in terms of moving towards a new style in pop production, but it retains Da-iCE's heavier sound through songs like 'Kartell' and 'Break Out' providing a good variety of genres to keep the listener engaged. 'REVERSi' is such an incredible EP, and having listened to Da-iCE's discography as a whole, it seems that the group use EP's as an opportunity to branch out and experiment with their sound. Since discovering their music, it has been amazing to see them expand their sound and gain increasing popularity in Japan. I think this EP will only expand their audience and hopefully gain traction here in the UK!
