'Sweet Spot' by Claquepot

Claquepot is a solo project by Japanese producer and leader of dance-vocal group Da-iCE, Taiki Kudo.

Sweet Spot is an experimental single that draws inspiration from a variety of genres with a heavy use of synthetic sounds and hip-hop style beats creating a groovy electro-pop track.

The track focuses on swift movement, heard in the contrasts between the offbeat lo-fi style drum beats and hip-hop style vocals. Instantly the listener is greeted by funky guitar riffs and a hint of the chorus' energetic melodies. It is an opening that grabs the listener's attention with its catchy hooks and promise of a build-up to the main chorus.

When the chorus finally arrives, it bursts through with distorted layers of synths and carries the choppy rhythms in its stride. The video that accompanies the song sees the singer dancing in a room with neon lights, a fitting reflection of the song's colourful tones.

It is a feel-good song that makes you want to get up and dance through quarantine!

There is no doubt; this song hits the sweet spot!
