'Violent Sun' by Everything Everything

Updated: Aug 20, 2020

Violent Sun is the fourth single from Everything Everything’s upcoming album ‘Re-Animator’ which is set for release this September. The song describes the dreaded feeling of something coming to an end and the desperate attempt to hold onto a moment. The track opens with Higgs (lead singer) stating, ‘and you realise you don’t know how long/ That the river has been sweeping you along’, a fitting picture of the past few months.

The music video for ‘Violent Sun’ was filmed and directed by the band and features each member playing charred instruments that were salvaged from their storage space which suffered a fire during lockdown. The matching red boiler suits and footage of the members running around outdoors provides an energetic performance that mirrors the escapism present in the song’s lyrics.

Overall, ‘Violent Sun’ is an excellent follow up to ‘In BirdSong’, ‘Arch Enemy’, and ‘Planets’. The variation in the singles alone is a promising indication of the album’s versatility and I cannot wait to hear the new album in September.
