Described as a song that has a 'message of unity', Barber Q's latest offering is an anthemic and meaningful track that will attract fans of bands like Nothing But Thieves and Royal Blood.
'Afraid' is one of those songs that will make you want to hit replay, with punchy guitar riffs that draw inspiration from songs like 'Boilermaker' by Royal Blood alongside interesting vocal melodies that sound like Muse mixed with Arctic Monkeys. Whilst 'Afraid' does blend elements of grunge with modern alt-rock composition, the band's charisma is present in the meaningful lyricism that glides across the riotous chorus. Touching upon themes relating to self-destruction and isolation, 'Afraid' holds an important message that reflects the band's close sense of community with their fans. This is definitely one of my favourite songs of 2023 so far, check it out in the link above or hear the song on my Spotify Reviews Playlist (link in bio).
