'Five and Dime' by Hazel English

‘Five and Dime’ taken from the Oakland based musician’s debut album ‘Wake UP!’ which was released earlier this year.

"Gotta get away ’cause you’re taking up all of my time
You know I need my space
So I’m heading to the five and dime"

The song explores an individual who is trying to find a sense of independence from their relationship. The pre-chorus sees English expressing 'The way you're looking at me/ Feel like I can't breathe".

'Five and Dime' displays English's ability to write honest and relatable lyrics with her vocals taking centre stage within the song's production.

The music video perfectly mirrors the 50s/60s psychedelic sound and incorporates hazy visuals and bold colours.

Hazel English has successfully made dream pop music that feels nostalgic but modern.

If you liked 'Five and Dime' I would strongly recommend checking out her debut album 'Wake UP!'.

'Shaking' also taken from 'Wake UP!'
