Innovative, delicate and wrapped in Taylor Swift's Folkloric charm, 'Fool's Gold' marks a new era for NYC-based indie-pop musician, Cade Hoppe.
2023 has proved to be a busy but transformative year for Hoppe, who has moved away from the heavy indie-pop production present within his EP 'Everything That's Wrong With You', with his latest music adopting a more acoustic soundscape that emphasises Hoppe's strength as a songwriter.
Hoppe's passion for writing introspective and thought-provoking stories is something that has been present ever since he started releasing music back in 2020, with tracks like 'Poor Man's Love' hinting at the passion and drive of an artist who could not continue to ignore his love for writing and creating music. 'Fool's Gold' is a track that explores feeling an impending sense of uncertainty and instability, however, Hoppe's writing portrays a persona who is highly aware of their surroundings and the challenges that they face. The acoustic backdrop is accompanied by light string and brass accompaniment that ebbs and flows between the vocals, surrounding Hoppe's warm baritone vocals that guides the listener throughout the track. Overall, 'Fool's Gold' feels completely different to the upbeat production of 'Labels' and 'Past-Time', instead showcasing a shift in Hoppe's music as his identity and style as a musician continues to strengthen, cementing himself firmly within the indie-music scene.
