Introducing...BANKS

Banks (Jillian Rose Banks) is an American singer-songwriter who is known for her therapeutic lyricism that incorporates dark, empowering melodies that deeply connect with her listeners. I heard about Banks during the release of her single 'Gemini Feed', I was immediately drawn to Bank's talent as a songwriter to tap into the ego and make music that feels powerful and sultry. The LA singer-songwriter has had a fairly long career, with three incredible albums that chart the musician's unique sound and style. 'Goddess' released in 2014, is a bold debut album featuring a collection of songs that explores heartbreak, guilt and a yearning to be with someone. 'This Is What It Feels Like' is my favourite track from the album, with production by Jamie Woon, the song blends RnB melodies with interesting melodic structure.

However, Bank's second album 'The Altar' will always remain my favourite album, it was the first album that got me interested in music production and software. There is something incredibly enticing and hypnotic about the album, it is empowering and leaves the listener wanting more.

Did You Know?....BANKS was the opening act for The Weeknd's 2013 fall tour

'Trainwreck' is a highlight from 'The Altar' and Banks displays her imaginative artistry through her music videos, producing strange but hypnotic visuals that perfectly capture the moods of her songs. The direction in heavy production is carried through to her most recent album 'III' a versatile album that includes collaborations and experimental vocal production. The lead single is an example of Banks' evolution as an artist, 'Gimme' has the darkness of 'Goddess' but with the powerful, polished production present in 'The Altar'. Looking back through the artist's discography you can see a gradual change in sound and Bank's growing confidence as an artist who provides empowering, personal songs that will resonant with many of her listeners.

I'm really excited to hear Bank's next album; her recent singles 'Skinnydipped' and 'The Devil' indicate a more romantic, reflective project that focuses on self-worth and reclaiming power.
