'Looking High' is the new single from UK alt-rock band Foals, who are set to release their new album 'LIFE IS YOURS' on the 17th June. Describing the album as a new expression for the band (with the recent departure of member Edwin Congreave) 'LIFE IS YOURS' shifts the band's focus to dance and funk influences, marking a new era for the Oxford trio.
'Looking High' is the third single taken from the band's upcoming new album, with 'Wake Me Up' and '2 am' proving to be strong singles that allude towards the broader depth of synth and funky rhythmic sounds that moves away from the band's traditional math-rock roots. Whilst some listeners may consider 'Looking High' to be weaker compared to the bold and colourful 'Wake Me Up' and '2am'; it does set the tone for this new era, introducing catchy hooks and guitar licks that are perfect for festival season. For those who may not be convinced by this new single, it is worth listening to it a few more times as it does grow on you. Overall, I think 'Looking High' reflects the danceability element of the band's new era but sets the tone for the rest of the record.
