'No Words' by Rhodes

'No Words' comes from British singer-songwriter Rhodes, whose latest single is a triumphant return that places the musician as a songwriter who understands how to craft brutally honest lyricism that resonates with his audience.

The song blends the ambient instrumentation explored in Rhode's debut album 'Wishes' but evolves the production by stripping back the accompaniment so that the vocals take centre stage. 'No Words' triumphs in terms of its reflective writing, with the vocal melody continuously in balance with the steady chordal progression. The movement in the piano mirrors the persona's wavering state of sleep and wake as they dream of a past love. Rhodes once again displays his talent for deeply connecting with his audience, drawing upon the painful process of reflection whilst painting heart-wrenching imagery as the vocals soar in the chorus. 'No Words' captures heightened emotions within a beautifully structured ballad, and it is a song you will want to listen to again and again.
