'Tongue-Tied' by Oh Romance

'Tongue-Tied' is the new single from Glasgow-based indie alt-rock band; Oh Romance. Recorded with Ewan Simpson at Mark Morrow Audio in Leith, 'Tongue-Tied' moves towards a heavier rock and roll sound palette showcasing a dominant lead guitar solo that draws influence from influential alternative/rock bands like Foals.

'Tongue-Tied' displays the individualistic styles of each member whilst simultaneously producing tight, catchy hooks that demonstrate the band's ability to create skilfully crafted alt-rock melodies. The balance in production between the heavy bassline and Miles Kane-esque vocal line forms depth for the lead guitar in the chorus. Compared to the band's previous work, 'Tongue-Tied' shifts the listener's focus from the vocal line to the backing instrumental.

Whilst the vocals remain fixed (reflecting the feeling of being 'tongue-tied'), the guitar and drums propel the track with catchy hooks and fast-paced percussion. As mentioned in previous reviews, Oh Romance continue to grow and mature their sound, and this gradual evolution will only continue to drive the band and attract attention. I would be interested to hear how this track would feature as part of a larger record, as the singles that have been released so far show a promising foundation for a band that is bound for success.
