'Tough It Out' is the latest EP from singer-songwriter A.L.I.N. who previously released music under the name Alanna Jolley. This four track EP immediately engages the listener with a confident introduction that features a gritty guitar solo that captures the rock and roll tone of A.L.I.N.'s music.
'I Don't Wanna Pretend' layers catchy melodic hooks that portrays a coming-of-age backdrop with the lyrics capturing the dizzy nature of growing up. The third track, 'Fixated' has a heavier composition and reflects the tones explored in 'Tough It Out', the heavy bass accompanied by the thumping percussion and cowbell brings energy and drive to the EP that nicely leads into the final song 'Raquelle'. The EP ends on an acoustic note with A.L.I.N.'s vocals placed at the forefront of the production, concluding this coming-of-age narrative with a love song that features lyrics that immerses the listener within the persona's state of mind. This four track EP is a fantastic collection of songs that demonstrate sophisticated melodic structure and maturity; it captures themes that will resonate with many and could feature on an indie film. This is a great EP and one you should definitely check out! Listen to 'Tough It Out' in the link above or hear the EP in full on my Spotify Reviews Playlist (link in bio).
