'Would You?' by The Awkward

'Would You?' is the brand new single from the indie synth-pop band The Awkward.

With Valentine's Day just around the corner, the band have released a song that examines the classic breakup narrative but with a catchy chorus that feels strangely euphoric.

The raw emotion underlying the accompanying instrumental is laid bare in the track's lyricism; making 'Would You?' a relatable and realistic account of a relationship in disrepair.

"Would you be happy if I go? Would you scream to let me know? Would you be happy if I go? Would you?"

The band's blend of synth-pop with guitar melodies produces an immersive soundscape echoing the themes of escapism explored in the verses and chorus. The music video follows an anonymous figure who wanders through a bleak monotone landscape, with the visuals emphasising this sense of losing one's identity in a relationship that is falling apart. The song gradually builds to the final section showcasing the band's talent to create a concise track that maintains momentum with an explosive final chorus. 'Would You?' is a phenomenal single from the indie synth-pop band and I look forward to hearing what they release next!
