'蜘蛛の糸' is the latest single from the Japanese dance-vocal group The Rampage from Exile Tribe. I was so excited to hear this single because I really enjoy June's production and composition style. For those new to June's work; June is known for his heavy electronic pop and EDM instrumentation, using polished tones to create a unique hybrid blend of K-pop and J-pop, which is especially evident in his work with ONE N' ONLY on their album 'You Are/Hook Up'.
'蜘蛛の糸' is a dynamic track that combines the hip-hop intensity of the group with sharp, syncopated drum beats, featuring a special collaboration with DRUM TAO (they've collaborated with the group before on their single 「Summer Riot ～熱帯夜～). Their latest single reminded me of songs like 'Fallen Butterfly' with its captivating rhythms and varied vocal textures. I really like how Hokuto's soft vocals complement June's dark production style- the rapped verses also add momentum leading into the chorus. This track coincides with the recent announcement of THE RAMPAGE's 2025 tour titled 'PRIMAL SPIDER' and the group's 8th anniversary since their debut. '蜘蛛の糸' is progressive and experimental and marks a new chapter for the J-pop group, I can't wait to see what they release next!
