'Just Look at the Moon' by Cade Hoppe (EP Review)

Hoppe's music has undergone a significant transformation since recording 'Poor Man's Love' back in 2020, a project that ignited Hoppe's passion to pursue a career in music. With his honest and down-to-earth lyrics, the NYC-based musician has amassed an impressive following of 12k followers on TikTok alongside thousands of streams on Spotify, a testament to his hard work and determination.

Hoppe's new EP, 'Just Look At The Moon,' is an endearing reflection on the turbulence of youth and the lingering numbness of heartbreak. The EP captures Cade's growth as an artist, reinventing his indie-pop sound and showcasing his willingness to take risks and embrace new beginnings. Having been a fan of Hoppe's music since reviewing 'Click Boom Run' in 2021, it is incredible to hear the gradual improvement in production and Hoppe's ever-growing confidence in his vocals that continue to convey the complex stories and intricacies of each track. Throughout the EP, Hoppe masterfully blends thoughtful lyrics with catchy hooks, creating a musical experience that is both captivating and meaningful.

Songs like 'Dirty' and 'Only Human' embrace the vulnerability of honouring mistakes and learning from past relationships, with an acoustic accompaniment that beautifully enhances the contemplative lyrics. On the other hand, 'Moon' delivers a more poignant commentary on the loneliness felt by artists and their desperate desire to seek external validation for their work. Despite the challenges and promises of strangers, the song ultimately emphasises the importance of finding inner confidence and trusting one's instincts. This is what makes 'Just Look at the Moon' a fantastic EP and one that will attract a lot of new listeners. Hoppe continues to explore his passion for music and finds different ways of interweaving personal stories through reflective songwriting, making this EP his best release yet!
